Our structured Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) are staffed by psychologists and clinicians who are specially trained to address the needs of our clients by focusing on:

FOCUS I: DEVELOPING SELF CONTROL

Primarily through the use of distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness training.

FOCUS II: EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCING

This part of our clients’ care plan is to help our clients explore the underlining trauma that may be related to their struggles in life.

FOCUS III: SELF RESPECT AND IDENTIFYING INDIVIDUAL GOALS

The third component of our program seeks to equip our clients with tools to help build self esteem and self confidence.  Through the use of interventions rooted positive psychology, we help our clients to identify their signature strengths and develop the skills needed to leverage those strengths to their greatest ability as they move towards their our individual definitions of ‘a life worth living.’

FOCUS IV: FREEDOM, JOY AND SERENITY

The fourth component of our treatment program is designed to help our clients develop the skills and practices needed to experience life in a manner that is both realistic and gratifying.  In this component, we help the client identify the patterns of functioning that may result in feelings of disconnection, and help them return to connection.

ADDICTION IS THE SYMPTOM

Our years of experience at the Gordon Psychology Group has taught us that addiction is often the result an attempt to manage symptoms of some other psychological or emotional problem, particularly trauma.  However, our solution to the problem quickly becomes an additional source of our problems. Most often we have found that our client’s struggles with addictions are often rooted in feelings of disconnection from the self and others.

By utilizing the 4 focused approach highlighted above, we first help clients struggling with addictions to develop self control which is followed by developing the practices needed to experience life in a manner that is both realistic and gratifying.
